Depression Counselling
The purpose of depression counselling or depression therapy is to reduce negative thinking patterns. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is one of the most effective treatments for depression. CBT involves developing tools and techniques to transform negative thoughts into positive ones. In time, the goal is to have less negative thoughts overall, and to adapt to this positive thinking style. As a result, symptoms of depression will decrease.
In our depression counselling sessions in Mississauga, we will work to counter your negative thoughts, improve overall mood, eliminate unhelpful thoughts, identify triggers for depression symptoms that are personal to you, and learn new strategies to cope with the triggers identified.
Your first session involves initial assessment of your well being and a thorough intake of your personal history and background. Subsequent therapy sessions are 50 minutes in length, and are unique to each individual treatment plan.
