Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Mary McPherson

We all experience difficulties or situations that may feel overwhelming and leave us questioning ourselves or relationships. Finding the right support can oftentimes feel like a daunting experience.

I have several years of experience working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families navigating life’s challenges. I have counselling and psychotherapy experience supporting persons facing various challenges such as anxiety, depression, grief, stress management, emotional and self-regulation, relationship and interpersonal conflicts, recent or childhood trauma, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I have experience working with diverse client groups, individuals, couples, and families. My process includes integrative and collaborative approaches aimed to meet you where you are at with respect, integrity, and warmth. I use relational therapy, trauma-informed, and integrative approaches from a variety of modalities tailored to best suit your needs. I will guide you to explore how your thoughts, emotions, and behavioural patterns influence your daily interactions and to explore new strategies to help shift these patterns to foster growth.

I am a member in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals (OAMHP), ICEEFT, and EMDR International. I have additional training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), Gottman Method Couples Therapy, EMDR, DBT, and trauma-informed therapy approaches. Difficult experiences impact how we function in life. If you’re experiencing difficulty as a result of trauma, loss, family dysfunction, drastic life change, or some other challenge, contact me for an initial consultation.
