MACP, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Nigel Edokpolo

My approach to therapy is that of becoming comfortable in the uncomfortable.

Consider yourself a clove of garlic. Every time you peel back a layer, there is another one. Although inner parts may be smaller, they do have value and meaning. Unless we investigate the outer layer, it can be hard to see what else might be there. I understand this can be challenging – and you might be thinking “easier said than done”. But the fact that you are here reading this tells me you have already taken a step towards betterment.

The way I approach all my sessions is like a smoothie with a mix of blueberries, ice, strawberries, milk that in turn can be a mix of cognitive behavioural therapy, internal family systems, solution-focused therapy, Emotional Focused Therapy and many others. No one approach fits every client therefore we will grow and adapt together for our sessions, which includes Couples therapy, Grief and Loss, Trauma, Anxiety, Burnout, Stress, Life Transitions and many others.

If any of this resonates with you I would be more than happy to be a part of sitting with you in that uncomfortability until you can call it comfortable and take your next step and peel that next layer back for your journey.

A little about me: I believe in being open with who I am as a person. I am biracial (being both white and black) and I view life from a realistic lens. I am someone is laid back yet strong-willed, comforting yet challenging, someone who will smile and laugh with you yet will sit with you during the uncomfortable, sad and painful times, someone who has more energy than a two-year-old toddler yet goes to bed at 8pm. I believe that how we look at challenges and obstacles can either provide strength and solutions to those challenges or provide more hurdles to overcome. I look forward to overcoming those hurdles with you.

Quote: Life changes whether we want to or not, but we have the ability to control how we change with it. Whether good or bad, having a choice is a gift that we receive every day.
